Cook Rallies to Ninth in Milwaukee
Terry Cook rallied from a lap down in the middle stages to finish ninth in the No. 60 Wyler.com Toyota Tundra in Friday’s Camping World RV Sales 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at The Milwaukee Mile. Cook was trapped a lap down when a round of green flag pit stops was interrupted by a caution flag. Cook was able to restart the race ahead of the leaders on the tail end of the lead lap and a timely caution allowed him to regain his position on the lead lap. After a brief delay for a passing thunderstorm, Cook charged into the top ten and scored his sixth top-ten finish of the season.
“That always seems to be our luck,” Cook said. “We come down to pit and the caution comes out and traps us a lap down. Thankfully we were able to restart on the tail of the lead lap, and we lined up on the outside. I wanted to control the restart and we did. I was able to get out in front and we eventually got a caution and got back on the lead lap.”
Once back on the lead lap Cook fought hard with several drivers in the back half of the top ten. He was running as high as seventh with ten laps to go but relinquished two spots over the final ten miles of racing.
“We were so tight all night long,” Cook said. “The adjustments we made on the final stop got us to the best we were all race. We ran our fastest lap on lap 168 which says these guys didn’t give up on getting this truck right all race long. I’m happy we were out in front of the couple of incidents they had out there tonight and brought it home in one piece.”
Cook moves up to seventh in the unofficial NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, 67 points behind Rick Crawford in fifth.
Next up for Cook and the No. 60 Wyler.com Toyota is the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park on June 28. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED starting at 8:30 P.M. Eastern, with live radio coverage on MRN Radio on select affiliates nationwide as well as Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 128.
