Melling Engine Parts To Sponsor HT Motorsports
NASCAR Truck Series Entry in 2007
MARTINSVILLE, VA (February 6, 2007) - Jim Harris, owner of HT Motorsports along with Mark Melling of Melling Engine Parts in Jackson, MI announced today that Melling Engine Parts and Melling Select Performance Parts will serve as the primary sponsor for driver Terry Cook in the teams No. 59 Toyota Tundra entered in the season-opening NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Daytona International Speedway.
In addition to being the primary sponsor at Daytona, Melling Engine Parts will be a major associate sponsor on the No. 59 throughout the season. 2007 marks the third-straight year Harris and Melling have inked a deal.
Its a great pleasure to announce that Melling Engine Parts is going to be with us again this season, stated Jim Harris. Weve been friends a long time, since the early 1990s, and Melling has supported our race team sponsoring various races over the years. Its great to have them with us again.
Its great to be back with Jim Harris and HT Motorsports this season and to be going back for another NASCAR season opener at Daytona, said Mark Melling. Being involved at Daytona is good for our company. Were launching a new line of High Performance Aluminum Billet oil pumps and it coincides perfectly with the opening of the racing season at Daytona. Were looking forward to going down there and having a great week.
The 2007 season marks the 28th-straight year Melling has either owned or sponsored a team at Daytona starting with Benny Parsons in 1979. The companys most visible racing efforts came in the 1980s and 1990s where Bill Elliott drove a Melling owned car to 39 NASCAR Winston Cup (now NEXTEL Cup) poles, 34 victories, the 1985 Winston Million Dollar Bonus, and the 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup championship.
HT Motorsports has been a fixture on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit for several years. This year, the Martinsville, VA based team will campaign Toyota Tundra trucks piloted by Cook, a veteran of the Truck Series with six career wins. Last year, Cook captured the NCTS event at Kansas Speedway and finished eighth in the 2006 Truck Series season standings.
The Chevy Silverado HD 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway will be telecast live on The SPEED Channel on Friday, February 16. The 8 p.m. Eastern Time green flag event will also be carried live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio.
