Daytona Testing Becomes First Outing for Terry Cook and Dennis Connor
(MOORESVILLE, N.C.) January 12, 2006 The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team heads to Daytona International Speedway (DIS) this weekend for three days of testing on the 2.5-mile race track. The biggest headline with this young, two-year team is its new driver / crew chief combination with Terry Cook and Dennis Connor. Both are veterans in their own right; Cook a five-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) winner and Connor, a three-time NCTS championship crew chief. Team Owner, Greg Pollex talks about his truck team:
What weve assembled here is a solid foundation with Terry and Dennis, said Pollex. We know they can win; theyve proven that in the past. ppc Racing is providing them with the best equipment and getting the support from Ford Racing Technology to earn wins and a championship. I wouldnt be in the truck series if I didnt think we could win and I know Terry and Dennis can get the job done.
Cook praises Pollexs hiring of Connor as the teams crew chief. Connors proven record of success in the NCTS is impressive in itself with twenty-one poles, 24 wins and 143 top-10 finishes.
To bring in someone with Denniss credentials, you listen, you listen to him carefully, said Cook. Ive told everyone on the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team that when Dennis approaches you, you to listen him. He is always looking for ways to make our team better. We are very fortunate to bring in a guy like Dennis.
Im very glad to be here at ppc Racing, said Connor. I am very impressed with the resources and technology and engineering support they have on the property and offsite with its association with Ford Motor Company and Ford Racing Technology. I plan to utilize every resource here to my fullest extent to make sure these trucks are the best mechanically and aerodynamically. We can make improvements to these trucks and Im confident the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team can and will compete for wins.
