2004 Race Summary . . .
The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team started off the race weekend showing strength. After final practice, the team posted the second-fastest speed and looked to be a threat for the race win. Early in the race, Cook was hit from behind, sending him spinning in Turns 3 and 4. Cook was able to recover and moved back into the top 10 when again, another competitor spun him, this time down the back straightaway. The race team survived to finish 13th, on the lead lap.
Cook on his TV Debut . . .
"It was an honor to represent Ford Motor Company at the final race ever at Mesa Marin Raceway, the birthplace of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. After the West Series race, all of the race fans didn't leave. It was a special night for The Collins Family and an added pleasure for me to be calling the final two races ever at the track on HDNet. I had a lot of fun in the TV Booth with Mike Hogwood and Austin Cameron calling the races and would love the opportunity to do more in the future."
Cook on the team's chase to get back into the top 10 . . .
"Martinsville is the first of five races for the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team to get back into the top 10 in points. NASCAR's NEXTEL Cup Series drivers had their chase to make the top 10 and we view these last five races as our chance to be 10th or better by season's end. This is our chase, our chase to be in the top 10. We wrapped up a decent test last Wednesday and we're bringing the same truck we finished 10th with back here in the spring race at Martinsville."
