2004 Race Summary . . .
The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team once again showed its strength on the mile-and-a-half racetracks, this time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The teams ninth-place finish under the lights was the result of running fast lap times late in the event after taking four fresh tires with 42 laps to go and restarting in 22nd.
Cook on Last Years Truck Race . . .
The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford was awesome last year. Fresh tires were huge. We came in and did a track bar and an air pressure adjustment and then this truck turned into a rocket. We just fought the balance of the truck and fortunately dodged a couple of bullets when people spun in front of us. The last run we put fresh tires on and we thought we were going to be all right but on the restart I had to jump on the brakes to avoid hitting the 14 truck and lost a bunch of track time. Had we not lost that track time we would have easily finished in the top five.
Crew Chief, Rick Gay on the Teams Top-10 Qualifying Efforts . . .
We really have a great team. With the way the impound rules are in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, if your truck is good in qualifying trim, then you should be good in the race. We look at several changes to the truck to get a different setup. Here this weekend we qualify during the day and race at night.
