2004 Race Summary . . .
Terry Cook and the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team prepared for last year’s race by testing at Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway.  Expectations were high but the results only mustered a top-15.  Cook was racing the No. 21 truck to the start/finish line as an incident ahead of Cook ensued.  Cook picked up the position but hit another truck, sending Cook through a spin cycle on the front straightaway after the checkered flag flew.

Matt Smela, Motorsports Marketing Manager at International Truck and Engine Corporation on the Power Stroke Diesel 200 being more than just a race . . .
“We began the Power Stroke Diesel 200 to develop a great partnership with Ford Motor Company.  We wanted to grow diesel pickup awareness by bringing our customers together for a national rally we call the Power Fest Rally.  It showcases us as the market leader in diesel pickups, SUVs and van markets.  This year, Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International owners will embark on Indianapolis for yet another weekend of rally and camaraderie.  The rally, sponsored by Ford and International Engine will include a performance tour and a scavenger hunt, per se, to show key points of interest in the Indianapolis community.  Included is a tour of International’s Engine Plant in Indianapolis, right where the Power Stroke diesel is manufactured and a great weekend of NASCAR racing.”

Cook on Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International’s biggest event of the year . . .
“It’s exciting to come home to the Power Stroke Diesel 200.  It’s the hometown of the main assembly plant for the Ford Power Stroke Diesel engine.  It’s our sponsor’s race and is showcased on one of the most exciting short tracks in the country.  Indianapolis Raceway Park promotes great side-by-side racing with the top groove being the fastest way around.  When you pack in 25,000 people there on a Friday night, as a driver I get excited especially since I’ve run exceptionally well there at IRP.  A lot of people don’t like it when the pressure is on but I like it and I perform better when the pressure it is.  I’m looking forward to returning to IRP and continuing our winning ways from 2002.”
