2004 Race Summary . . .
The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team appeared to be on its way to another top-five finish until a right-rear tire blew in turns three and four on lap 139.  Driver Terry Cook was running fourth at the time and hit the turn four wall in the one-truck incident.  The team finished 30th after starting 13th and was in the top 10 most of the race.  The team was the highest running Ford at the time of the incident.

Cook on Ford Motor Co.’s sponsorship of the NCTS race at Kentucky  . . .
“Ford wants to see its trucks do well in this race.  They bring their dealer reps in who get to see first hand their race vehicle.  They get to touch what they drive and work toward in making and selling a great truck.  In essence, from the service technician to the parts manager to the salesmen, they support this race and the race vehicles that are in it to put them up front and stay there.  It’s a conglomeration and a team effort from Ford Motor Company.”

Cook on the excitement of competing at Kentucky Speedway . . .
“To run at Kentucky Speedway is very special.  First it is our second largest purse to Daytona.  Anytime you put up a lot of money the drivers get excited.  Anytime you can put a lot of fans in the stands like they do at Kentucky Speedway, they get excited.  Anytime you can have a night race with a lot of money and a lot of fans, you get really excited.  To perform in front of a crowd like we always get at Kentucky is pretty special.”

Cook on Kentucky being Ford Country . . .
“I was very fortunate to watch my Ford Excursion roll off the assembly line last year not too far from Kentucky Speedway.  This is definitely Ford country so it’s only fitting that we have a Ford in Victory Lane.  Every three out of four Ford super duty pick-up trucks that come off the assembly line are Power Stroke diesel trucks so I think it’s time we put a Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race truck into Victory Lane.”
