Terry Cook on leading at a short track like Martinsville . . .

“Whether it’s a short track or superspeedway, you always want to lead.  To be in the lead is a benefit and even at Martinsville because the guys behind you have to figure out how to pass you and it’s extremely hard to do that there.  As the leader you are more likely able to pick and choose your way through lapped traffic.  You can study them and see the line the guy ahead of you is running.  When you’re running second, you’re probably working the brakes even harder to drive around the guy that is leading the race.  Even when you are in the lead, you can save your equipment for the last bit of the race to win.”

Terry Cook on a possible victory at Martinsville Speedway . . .

“I certainly think we can win this weekend at Martinsville.  If you don’t think you can win, you might as well not show up because all of us in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series go to the track thinking we’re going to end up in Victory Lane.  We truly believe the Power Stroke Diesel by International race team can capture our first victory of the season right there at Martinsville. The key ingredients in the race are great pit stops, a truck that’s good on long runs and a good qualifying effort the day before.  If we can add all those ingredients together, we definitely can put ourselves in contention for a victory.”
