Terry Cook A Fast Qualifier at Richmond International Raceway

(RICHMOND, Va.) – Terry Cook, driver of the No. 10 International Trucks and Engines Ford, is use to starting up front at Richmond International Raceway.  In his last six NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts, Cook has started in the top 10 averaging a 6.5 starting position for Thursday night’s event.

“We’ve been very successful in the past at Richmond International Raceway,” said Cook of his qualifying starting record at the .75-mile short track.  “It is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule.  It’s one of those tracks we’ve been able to qualify very well but haven’t really got the race package where it needed to be.  It has to deal a lot with having practice early on in the daytime and racing at night.  It’s kind of a rush-rush day on Thursday.  The biggest thing for us is to work on the balance of the International Trucks and Engines Ford with any single-day event.  We tested last week to prepare for this race.  It’s good to have a chance to sort out the International Trucks and Engines Ford before we even get there.  I feel like with us testing prior to the race, we can unload at Richmond extremely fast and hopefully race well all night long.”

Cook has seen his success on the short tracks in his racing career.  His first-career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series pole and win came at Flemington (N.J.) Speedway, a .625-mile short track.  Since then, the nine-year series veteran has accumulated an additional seven poles and four-career victories, the last coming in the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, another short track on the series schedule.

Cook and the ppc Racing team will set out to win the pole Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. EDT with the Kroger 200 beginning at 8:45 p.m.  SPEED Channel and MRN Radio will cover the race live Thursday night beginning at 8:30 p.m.
