Terry Cook a Master at Indianapolis Raceway Park
(MOORESVILLE, N.C.) Terry Cook appears to be a master at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP), site of the Power Stroke Diesel 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event this Friday night. Cook won in his sponsors event in 2002 from the pole and looks to repeat his stellar performance again this year. The nine-year series veteran is coming off a seventh-place finish last week and could become only the second driver to earn three consecutive poles at one track come Friday.
Ive been fortunate every time I come to IRP that weve been prepared to sit on the pole and ultimately run good throughout the race, said Cook, driver of the No. 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race truck. With ppc Racing, the top-notch caliber team that Im with now, well turn it up a notch to not only sit on the pole but dominate the race all night long.
Cook has five top-10 finishes this season and three the last three years at IRP. His best 2004 finish came at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, a .44-mile short track in his home state of Ohio. With three short-track races in the next four events, Cook sees an emphasis to focus on tracks less than one mile in length, including the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at IRP.
Weve been working really hard on our short track program, said Cook. We took a little bit of what we learned at Mansfield earlier this year. Now weve got a whole new redesigned truck with a brand new front clip on it and I feel it is going to make a big change. Were going to test the truck before heading to Indianapolis to make sure that when we unload were as good as we need to be to stay up front.
This is my favorite time of the racing season, said Cook, commenting on the season reaching its summer stretch at IRP. Were in the middle of the summer and its hot out. The fans get excited; because its a night race under the lights. Its the Power Stroke Diesel 200 in Indianapolis and its in my own backyard. It just doesnt get much more exciting than this.
Based in Mooresville, N.C., ppc Racing enters its first season of competition in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with driver Terry Cook and the No. 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team. ppc Racing continues its competition in the NASCAR Busch Series, its fifth season, with driver Jason Keller in the No. 22 Miller High Life Ford Taurus. With co-owners Greg Pollex and Keith Barnwell, ppc Racing earned the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series championship and has scored 27 wins and more than 150 top-five finishes as it enters the 2004 season.
