Terry Cook Remembers The Milwaukee Mile Very Well
(MOORESVILLE, N.C.) Terry Cook has his thoughts on The Milwaukee Mile for this weekends NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. Can you blame him? Cook, driver of the No. 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Racing truck has seen sweet success the past three years starting and finishing in the top 10, including a trip to Victory Lane in 2002.
From a drivers perspective, that was by far the biggest accomplishment I had had to date, said Cook, who made his first-career truck start at The Milwaukee Mile in 1996. We were fastest in practice, sat on the pole, dominated the entire race up until about 50 laps to go and had a caution. We went into the pits leading the race and came out fifth. I started crawling my way back to the front and got to second. I ran down the race leader with about ten laps to go and it looked like we were going to finish second. I just didnt have enough to overhaul the race leader. Fortunately for me the caution flag came out with about four laps to go. It took track officials long enough to clean up the mess that we had a green-white shootout and I was able to take the lead and power my way into victory. It was a special day.
Cook and the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Racing team have seen success in 2004, starting off with a pole and top-five finish at Daytona International Speedway. Since then Cook has scored one top-five finish but heads to the one-mile speedway seeking another top-10 finish with ppc Racing, the Mooresville, N.C. based team in its first season of competition in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
I really have a good feel for those tracks, said Cook, referring to the flat tracks on the schedule. Ive been fortunate to have been in some good equipment that has made me solid at those tracks. Its a combination of good equipment and having a good feel for those tracks.
Ive had good success there the last three years. The Milwaukee Mile is always a good place for me to go back to because its not far from home (Sylvania, Ohio) and its site of my first race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. I always enjoy going to The Milwaukee Mile.
Based in Mooresville, N.C., ppc Racing enters its first season of competition in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with driver Terry Cook and the No. 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International race team. ppc Racing continues its competition in the NASCAR Busch Series, its fifth season, with driver Jason Keller in the No. 22 Miller High Life Ford Taurus. With co-owners Greg Pollex and Keith Barnwell, ppc Racing earned the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series championship and has scored 27 wins and more than 150 top-five finishes as it enters the 2004 season.
