Terry Cook on competing at Memphis Motorsports Park . . ..
Memphis Motorsports Park is a difficult track to get around. From an aerial view, it looks similar to Richmond but it doesnt drive anything like it. You carry a lot more corner speed at Richmond than you do at Memphis. You have to really slow the truck down in the corners and finesse your feet with the brakes. The truck has to have good traction up off the corners too.
Terry Cook on his past performances at Memphis Motorsports Park . . .
We were in contention the entire race in 2002. I ran second to Travis Kvapil and had passed Ted Musgrave with about 40 laps to go. When I caught Kvapil, I dogged him the remaining laps. I was on his bumper within inches every lap waiting for him to make a mistake and he never did; he went on to win the race. I had a lot of opportunities to muscle Travis out of the way to go on and win the race but thats not my style of racing. It was a good day at Memphis and I went to Milwaukee the following week to win there.
