Terry Cook on competing at Texas Motor Speedway . . .
Were taking the same truck we ran at Dover last week, which was the first time the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International truck was on the track in competition. Were excited to bring back Truck No.10-03 because weve found some of our ailments that made us suffer at Dover. Our expectations are high. Weve learned at Atlanta and Charlotte what to do and not to do. Adding all this together, I think weve got the right ingredients to stay up front all weekend long at Texas Motor Speedway.
Terry Cook on his past performances at Texas Motor Speedway . . .
Ive been fortunate to have some really good runs at Texas Motor Speedway but never really the good finishing results to go with the good runs. Ive amassed several top 10s but never a race win in the trucks. Texas is a track you have to get the truck driving almost flat out all night long. Youre on the verge of being wide open all night long but thats if youre fast. If youre not fast, then youre not going to be nearly as wide open. Knowing that weve got Robert Yates Engines under the hood, a brand new truck ppc Racing takes a lot of pride in and Jamie Jones as our new crew chief, you add all those ingredients together and you get a recipe for success.
Terry Cook on night- versus day-racing at Texas Motor Speedway. . .
I prefer night racing especially at Texas Motor Speedway because its extremely hot there during the day. During night racing, track conditions never really change. You dont have to worry about whether the sun is out heating the track or whether theres cloud cover or no cloud cover or shade in one corner but not in another. I like the fact the track conditions stay consistent throughout the race during night racing at Texas.
