COOK, POWER STROKE® DIESEL FORD
SEEKS STRIKING FINISH AT NASHVILLE

NASHVILLE, TN (August 5, 2003) - After starting from pole position, leading 41 laps and finishing ninth in the Power Stroke® Diesel 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Terry Cook and the No. 29 Power Stroke® Diesel K-Automotive Ford team enter the lightening-fast 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway with high hopes to dissipate the black cloud hovering overhead that has stricken their winning efforts in the 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
"We are really excited to go to Nashville and again we will be looking to turn our luck around," said Cook. "We've had some good runs this season that have been derailed by dumb luck. When you are leading your sponsor's race and you get turned around by a lap truck coming around to catch the caution flag, now that's what you call bad luck."
Nashville Superspeedway, built in 2000, is one of only three concrete tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Cook and his No. 29 Power Stroke® Diesel Ford started and finished sixth in the inaugural NCTS event at Nashville two years ago. The Indianapolis, IN resident is set to improve last season's seventh-place finish at the tri-oval superspeedway.
"Nashville Superspeedway is a type of track where you will see speeds increase as the day goes on," said Cook. "All night long during the race, speeds will become faster because the rubber will build up on the track and you will have more grip. The biggest thing to watch at Nashville is Turn 3. You have to be careful because it's easy to overdrive the truck getting into Turn 3."
Before Cook takes the Nashville challenge, the Power Stroke® Diesel Ford driver visits International Diesel of Alabama in Huntsville August 6.
"This is NASCAR country and we consider Terry Cook a big celebrity," said John Mitchell, Business Team Leader for Human Resources at International Diesel of Alabama. "We are excited to have Terry drop by before he races Nashville. We make the Power Stroke® Diesel Engine here and we are interested in hearing what Terry has to say about the engine since he is a Power Stroke® Diesel owner himself. We have an employee meeting every other month and we are fortunate to have Terry here for this month's meeting. We also want to know about his experiences as a NASCAR driver and what he believes his future holds."
"I am looking forward to visiting the high-profile International Diesel of Alabama Huntsville Plant," said Cook. "I've been involved in auto mechanics my entire life. My father owned an automotive service center. I literally grew up with wrenches in my hands. My dad is an ASE Certified Diesel Mechanic and we always had diesel equipment at our shop. I got a job right out of high school working for a demolition contractor who had a lot of heavy equipment - bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks, semi trucks. If it was a piece of heavy equipment, we had it. I spent almost four years there working on diesel engines and they fascinated me. I was pretty much ready to go to 'Diesel College' and that's when racing got a hold of me and changed my direction to where I am now."
Cook and the No. 29 Power Stroke® Diesel Ford team will take the green flag in the Federated Auto Parts 200 at Nashville Superspeedway at 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The event will be telecast live on Speed Channel and broadcast live on MRN Radio nationwide.
