RACE OVERVIEW -
Terry Cook started and finished fifth in the Virginia Is For Lover's 200 at Richmond International Raceway capitalizing on a late-race caution that awarded the Indianapolis resident his eighth Top-5 finish of the 2002 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. With the same truck he won with at Milwaukee, New Hampshire and Indianapolis Raceway Park, Cook rallied from a pit stop at Lap 96 that placed him 13th in the running order to score the top finish. He is second in the championship points, 44 points out of first with six races remaining.
TERRY COOK POST RACE QUOTES -
ON FINISHING FIFTH -
"We brought home a fifth-place finish with an 11th-place truck. We were up and down all night. We made some good adjustments, but we just used a different setup that didn't work for us tonight. We worked on our pit sequence hoping that the race would stay green till the end. We decided at the last minute to come in and take left side tires at Lap 166 because the truck began to lose grip. It was the right call and ultimately we were able to keep up with the front-runners and maintain second in the points. It's all about finishing the race and staying consistent. We did a good job here tonight with the cards that were dealt and our focus has now shifted to Texas."
